I remember listening to Richard Campbell on .NET Rocks!, and he has a fantastic mind. He’s been through many of the “revolutions” in tech (the Internet, mobile, cloud, AI) and presents the roadmap of how we got here and what things look odd.

How to Win in the Age of AI

This is a long video (75 minutes) that contains a collection of tips from a staff engineer at Meta, primarily aimed at software engineers in their 20s and 30s. Some of the tips are very practical (e.g., invest in your retirement), others are more geared toward an assumption that AI will be one of the most important skills to have. He’s at least transparent that nobody knows what the future will look like. There are several tips that I disagree with, and I think a considerable factor in his (or anyone’s) success is luck.

Write code, not specs

The author makes the case that specifications are just another (imprecise) system that needs to be maintained. The code is the other (precise) system. He makes the argument that having good tests are more valuable than specs.
