Battle Damaged F-4G Phantom: Part 5

(Scroll all the way to the bottom of the post to skip to the YouTube video.)

In the previous post I filled the numerous gaps where the pieces didn’t quite line up. This post covers prepping the main aircraft body for painting by applying some primer. I also filmed my typical airbrush cleaning routine.

Description

  • Cleaned up the model with a toothbrush and water to remove any sanding dust and fingerprints
  • Used some foam packing material I had lying about to mask off the cockpit
  • Applied several coats of Alclad Grey Primer & Microfiller (ALC 302) using the airbrush at 15 psi
  • Cleaned the airbrush using lacquer thinner (because the primer is lacquer-based)
  • Personal protective equipment
