A friend of mine has the Deep Rock Galactic board game that comes with multiple figures that can be painted.
Here’s a gallery with ~80 pictures. This project took me a little over 4 hours to complete.
Things I learned:
- Having a reference video for someone that’s already done this makes it easy to understand how to complete the process.
- I tried the “slap chop” approach for zenithal highlighting, and didn’t find it that much more efficient than airbrushing white from above.
- For areas that receive lighter colors (e.g., the base rock), it’s a three step process — paint a thin version of the lighter color, use a darker wash to fill in the depressed areas, then drybrush the lighter color to finish.
